Bodega Roca Negra is a family-run project in Masdache, within Tías, started when three friends turned an old small press house surrounded by vines into a working winery. They farm just over two hectares of organic vineyards on their own plots at around 320 metres above sea level; some vines reach 80 years old, with an average near 50. The traditional Lanzarote hoyo system is central to how they work, and the project openly values the farmers who keep that landscape alive. Output is deliberately small, between 10,000 and 25,000 bottles a year, focused on Malvasía Volcánica and Listán Negro, making white and red wines with little manipulation. A visit lets you see the vines and the winery and taste the range, with the volcanic soil, Atlantic influence and vintage variation as the main talking points. It is worth the trip if you prefer a small, direct, working winery over a polished visitor centre. Book visits and tastings ahead.
